Te Roopu Taurima | About Us
Te Roopu Taurima is the largest kaupapa Māori, disability support service in the country with offices in Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland), Te Tai Tokerau (Whangarei), Kirikiriroa (Hamilton), and Ōtautahi (Christchurch). We have been supporting people in the disability sector for over 20 years working alongside people with intellectual, physical and sensory impairments. Working alongside people with mental health conditions and dual diagnosis high and complex needs, tangata (people we support) who require community based intensive support, and choices in community living services.
Our holistic approach is underpinned by Māori values and principles. Whanaungatanga relationship building and strengthening is essential to ensuring tangata have as much choice and control over their own lives as possible.
Why work for us?
We seek to recruit an agile workforce of critical thinkers who align to a tangata centred model of care and service. We hope to attract positive role models, who will lead from the front, create change in the sector and foster skills in Te Ao Māori (Māori worldview) and Te Ao Hurihuri (contemporary worldview).
Te Roopu Taurima (TRT) will employ the ‘best’ person for the job; candidates should add value to the future of TRT and aspire to work within a kaupapa Māori organisation. The success of TRT relies on our ability to attract the best staff, contractors, agency/temporary support and volunteers available.
Where possible TRT will explore career pathways to increase recruitment and retention of a Māori workforce. ‘More young people (Rangatahi) in the workforce who will be well supported and skilled’. Rangatahi in leadership roles encouraging others to enter the sector. Rangatahi based programmes that foster success and mentoring opportunities.
Recruitment and selection processes will cover not only the current technical skills of the individual but also by seeking people who have the personal attributes experience and share the values that will ensure a successful future for TRT.
